Legacy United G1 Universe Optimus Prime! What a strange Bot to review & quantify. I really like the concept. Plus the figure feels great in hand! But, he doesn’t really fit with anything. I wonder if they’re considering a missing-link retail line? Could this be the trial Bot? Is this a one-off? Just because G1 Optimus is amazing? Who knows. But I do like it.

Bot-Mode looks stoic! With his G1 toy face. In fact the presence is so Triple-A it makes me question why we ever tried to improve G1 Optimus. Then I think about a couple welcome improvements this figure has. Non-parts forming fists & a Matrix of Leadership. Now I find myself questioning why I doubted the need to improve G1 Optimus! Do you see how I’m stuck here?

Conversion is pure G1. Alt-mode is solid Optimus! I dig the 5mm ports on the back. Rolls nicely on “not-rubber” PVC tires. The silver painted details really pop. However, they can’t compare to the G1’s chrome bits. Overall this is a super fun toy that I can hardly put down! Then my mind wanders. Is Legacy not in the G1 universe? Is this G1 Optimus from the G1 Toy Universe? Does that imply a Toy Story universe where the Transformers are sentient toys? I highly recommend picking this up.
